In a new outreach article we make a short synthesis of why shall we care about the uncertainty in the data about the distribution of biodiversity, and argue that we can account for it through maps of ignorance (see Tessarolo et al. Ecography 2021). We explain the basics of this novel technique and discuss its future developments and how could it be applied into modern conservation science.
